Organic / Fair Trade Uganda Bugisu has arrived !
This unique African coffee offers a deep, developed flavor with dark chocolate notes. Roasted to a true medium, our
organic, fair trade Uganda coffee produces a full body with vanilla notes that are just mesmerizing to the palate.
The title belongs to the Bugisu tribe, native to the mountain’s
northwestern districts. The Bugisu
Cooperative Union was officially formed in 1954 after decades of
struggle with British and European authority over control of the coffee
on Mt. Elgon—considered Uganda’s best by far..
The vast majority of coffee coming off the mountain is pulped in tiny
batches, often on borrowed equipment. And with farms as small as half an
acre, building large volumes for sale is difficutlt. We're thrilled and honored to have this wonderful coffee from Uganda in the shop.
